The National Legislature in its today sitting chaired by Speaker Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Tahir Passed Abyei Referendum Bill, 2009, after introducing some amendments thereon in third reading stage according to the report of the Ad Hoc Committee of studying the Bill whereas the report included a number of proposed amendments presented by some members of the Ad Hoc Committee the matter that caused controversy and prolonged discussion that led the legislature to pass the Bill by majority voting.
On the other hand, the National Assembly passed in its closing sitting this evening under the chairmanship of Mr. Ahmed Ibrahim El-Tahir, the Speaker, Worker’s Trade Union Bill, 2009, after been subjected to a number of amendments after merging the two bills ( the initiative of Trade Unions Bill Presented by the National Democratic Alliance and Trade Union Bill Presented by the Executive) in third reading stage where as the two bills were harmonized in order to come out with one act that satisfies the requirements of the stage, democratic transformation in the country and guarantees trade unions business, its freedom and organization. The Bill, however, includes (36) articles.
The National Assembly in the same sitting under the chairmanship of Mr. Atem Garang, the deputy speaker, passed the Popular Consultation for people of South Kordofan and Blue Nile states Bill, 2009, unanimously
