Commenting on the statements of the Minister of Energy and Mining published in the news papers of today attributing the delay of oil exploration in Southern Sudan to lack of security in the South and the SPLA aggressions against the workers there, Brigadier General- Police Galwak Ron Niyot, Chair of the National Assembly's Committee for Energy and Mining stated that such as accusation can not be proved unless after a relevant investigation is carried out to disclose whether it is the SPLA or another armed party are the actual aggressors there.
The Chair of the Committee called upon the Ministry of Energy to report to the Committee on any aggressions against exploration works in the South following the recommendation of the workshop held in the Parliament regarding security of oil flow in Sudan. He added that the Government of National Unity is still operating and there is still a government in the South responsible for maintaining security in the oil fields and that the Minister must not stipulate that exploration will be carried out in the ''north '' and not the south''.
The Chairperson of the Committee disclosed the committee's intention visit the oil exploration areas in the south to get acquainted with course of work there end identify the parties that had carried out the aggressions in the oil fields.
