Parliament Ends Session, Resumes Mid-Octuber
The National Assembly in its sitting today chaired by Mr. Hajo Gesim AL-seed, deputy Speaker, endorsed the SPLM nomination for the chairpersons and deputies of the five committees devoted for the SPLM among which is Peace & Unity committee with Mr. Ramadan Hassan as chairperson. The Assembly as well approved the names of five members to represent the National Assembly in Press and Publication Council.





In addition, an ad hoc committee was formed comprising chairpersons of the (16) committees and more than (50) MPs representing women and all political parties that constitute the Parliament. The committee will be chaired by Mr. Atim Grang, deputy speaker of the National Assembly and Mr. Ahmed Abdul Rahman as deputy chairperson and its aim will be to activate the Assembly business during its recess with respect to issues of unity, peace, resolving Darfur issue and tackling various political developments.



The functions of the committee also include follow-up of developments in political arena in connection with the internal and external threats, Darfur Peace progress, South Sudan Referendum and other issue.



A number of sub-committees will be branched from the main committee so as to submit its reports to the latter that in turn will submit its final report to the Assembly.



Furthermore, the Assembly chaired by Mr. Atim Granag, the deputy speaker, was briefed on the situation of Darfur Peace negotiations by Dr. Gaazi Saladin, the official in charge of file of Doha negotiations, who reviewed the progress of negotiations and the iniatives taken by the government and the rebel movements. He, as well, presented a detailed, Illustration of the peace process in connection with the appreciated efforts exerted by the international envoys and the mediation.



In this respect, he praised the role of Qatar state aiming at sustaining peace efforts, resolution of Darfur issue, providing material and moral support and preparing the atmosphere for the negations, pointing out to the Afro-European Initative that met support and backing from the United Nations and turned to be an international initiative.

During deliberations, the members affirmed the importance of comprehensiveness of settlement of the issue and to provide the atmosphere to return of the displaced, activate the internal settlement and to unity the visions of Darfur citizens secure the part from regionalism, partisan attliations and political bargaining.



In the 3 come sitting, the Assembly passed the detailed report on the business of the 1st session and Listened to the resolution of session end-up provided that the sitting of the Assembly are adjourned from today and the resume after a recess of three moths, in 14th October next.
