 The Culture, Information, Youth and Sports Committee of the National Assembly held an enlarged hearing meeting headed by the Chairperson of the Committee Professor Fatharrahman Sheila in the presence of the Minister of Information Dr. Kamal Obeid, and all heads of the information organs, in addition to the Press and Publications Council and chairpersons of committees of the National Assembly, to discuss the role of media in establishing harmony, unity and peace.
The meeting addressed the importance of preaching peace, reconciliation and unity and put them all in the list of concerns of the media agencies, emphasizing the importance of unifying the nation towards the desired goals and mobilizing efforts for development and welfare in order to ensure stability and security
The meeting stressed the need to focus on cultural and religious diversity through setting programs and activities of dissemination of the culture of peace, promotion of unity, urging of citizens to participate in development and creation of national awareness. This also includes reflection of the inheritance and enforcement of the information message through effective programs to establish and spread the values of peaceful coexistence within a one country.
Dr. Kamal Obeid reviewed the Ministry's plan to achieve these goals. The Chairperson of the Committee Fathi Sheila assured the readiness of the Council represented in the information committee, in coordination and work with the Ministry, to enforce this plan.
